Dual Ec(h)o of Rome

Greetings from our new blog: Dual Ec(h)o of Rome

Hey there! We’re so excited to welcome you to our blog!

You’re probably wondering what this blog is all about, right? Don’t worry, we’ll explain everything in depth right now!

Dual Ec(h)o of Rome is a space where two unique perspectives on life in the Eternal City collide.

One comes from a Foreigner who has been calling Rome home for over five years despite all the difficulties, and the other from a born-and-raised Roman!

It’s fascinating how differently foreigners and locals experience life here — from navigating the city’s rhythms to witnessing its transformations over time. Through our blog, we aim to share tips and insights from our experiences, put those perspectives side by side, and spark conversations about the many sides of Rome.

Sure, living here isn’t always easy, but there’s a special art to finding your own way to fall in love with the city — whether you’re a local or a foreigner. Let’s explore that journey together and introduce our characters!

– Hello! I’m Sara, and I’ve been calling this city home for about 5 years now. I graduated with a Master’s degree from LUMSA University here in Rome, and let me tell you, it’s been quite a journey! From navigating endless bureaucracy to hunting down the perfect apartment, I’ve faced it all. Along the way, I’ve picked up so many useful tips and tricks that have helped me not just survive but truly fall in love with this city—its strengths and flaws!

That’s why I’m so excited to share my experience with you! Together, we’ll dive into how to handle life in Rome as a foreigner and how to make your time here as enjoyable as possible. And let’s face it, this couldn’t be more relevant than right now, during the Jubilee Year 2025, when Rome is changing and evolving every single day.

My colleague Valerio, the Roman, and I share a love for Rome, though we experience it in our own unique ways. Despite our different mentalities, Rome brings us both joy—each in our own special way!
Let’s explore this amazing city together!

– Hello everybody! Valerio here, a born and raised Roman.

My family is from Trastevere, one of the most characteristic Roman neighborhoods. If you have never heard of it, you should definitely add it to your bucket list for your Roman trip. I grew up with the tales of my grandfather about Ancient Rome, the Popes, and everyday life in Trastevere.

For a long time, I did not fully realize what it meant to be from Rome. Wonders like the Colosseum or St. Peter’s Basilica were always there for me, part of my daily life. I could not remember the first time I had seen them. This changed when I started meeting travelers from all over the world. Through their eyes, I understood what it felt like to see Rome for the first time.

Nothing makes me happier than showing my foreign friends around my beautiful city. Spending time with a local is the best way to get to know a place. I can not wait to share all the wonderful things about it with you. Join me, and I will reveal all the secrets of the Eternal City!

One single voice is not enough to narrate a place like Rome. That is why we decided to give you two! Let’s begin with the Jubilee changes, changes not only for Rome but for everyone present here
